POONCH, APRIL 09: To reach out to the people at their doorsteps, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today conducted a day-long grievances redressal camp at Dak Bungalow Mendhar.
He spent the day listening to the grievances of the people through their elected representatives coming from different Panchayats of the Sub Division.
The Deputy Commissioner also met with the people one to one and listened to their genuine issues. He was accompanied by Sr. Superintendent of Police and all District Officers and Sectoral Officers.
The proceeding of the camp started with a plethora of grievances and demands put forth by different Panchayats through their representatives including both the District Development Council members, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanches, and Prominent Citizens.
The grievances highlighted regarding Tehsil Mendhar mainly related to illegal encroachment of University land at Village Kalaban, water scarcity, unscheduled power cuts, the disparity in MGNREGA plan allocation, and non-availability of funds for the Agriculture and Horticulture department.
From Balakote Block, the main issues projected were the construction of remaining bunkers along with all the sensitive points of the border; clearance of liability on account of the construction of already constructed bunkers.
Representatives of Block Mankote complained about poor infrastructure, water scarcity, and irregularity in PDS registration among others. Various other issues of public importance also caught the attention of the Deputy Commissioner, like illegal encroachment of bus stand Mendhar, involvement of PRIs representatives in plan formulation, procurement of poles for establishing a robust power infrastructure, the inclusion of old age and widows for pension, 100 days employment to all the MGNREGA job card holders, funds for completing balance works of Mini Secretariat Mendhar, identification of land for Eidgah and graveyard in Mendhar town, deletion of undeserving ration cardholder from BPL list and protecting the rights of forest dwellers, etc.
After giving a patient hearing, Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to evolve a people-friendly and result-oriented mechanism. He advised the officers to refrain from unfair practices and said there will zero tolerance for corruption. He sought the cooperation of Civil society and Panchayat Raj representatives for eradicating the menace of corruption from society.
On the issue of non-functioning of Govt institutions and absenteeism in the peripheral area, he asked the Sarpanches to keep a tab on the working of all government offices and inform the administration about any misconduct by officials.
Seeking the cooperation of the general public, he asked them to inform the administration about the encroachment of govt land and asked the encroachers to voluntarily vacate it. He also asked the people to go for Aadhar seeding of ration cards to avail various government services.
He further advised them to avail benefits of government schemes like AYUSHMAN BHARAT, PM KISSAN, HIMAYAT, KCC among many others.
He laid stress on public utility departments like PHE, R&B, PMGSY, RDD, and PDD to work in a systematic way and achieve the set targets well in time.
Meanwhile, Sr. Superintendent of Police Poonch, Vinod Kumar lauded the role of the Police for its efforts in eradicating the menace of drugs by tightening noose around the drug mafia active in District Poonch. He sought cooperation from civil society and Media and local representatives in the fight against drugs and assured further crackdowns and arrests of kingpins in near future.

Imran Zaffar, DDC Member from Mendher-A Mian baji Farooq BDC Chairman Mendhar, Mtr, Tahira Jabeen, President Sarpanch association Mendhar Shokit Choudhary and Sarpanches and other Panches from different Panchayats of Sub Division Mendhar.
