DC Rajouri interacts with civil society members, media

Seeks people's cooperation in vaccination drive; following Covid Appropriate Behaviour

RAJOURI, AUGUST 19: To discuss the measures for the effective implementation of COVID vaccination drive for 18-44 age group, and to generate awareness about the Covid appropriate behaviour and other issues, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today convened a meeting with the concerned officers and prominent citizens here in the Conference Hall of the PWD Dak bungalow. He also held interaction with the media persons to solicit their cooperation in promotion of the vaccination drive.

 ADDC, Pawan Kumar; ADC, Sachin Dev Singh; Town Commander, ACD, Sushil Khajuria; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; DySP HQ, Vinod Kumar besides other officers attended the meeting.

A retired senior government officer, Subash Chander; President Beopar Mandal, Rajesh Gupta; Rajinder Gupta; Sanjay Sharma; Pushpinder Gupta; Kapil Saryal; Dinesh Sharma; Nirman Singh; Shoket Shawl; Sushil Sharma; Azam Shah; Farooq Lone; Yousif Lone; Vivek Gupta; Rizwan Bhuraq and others prominent citizens attended the meeting.

Besides, former MLA, Qamar Husssain; Ex-Chairman Pahari Advisory board, Kuldeep Raj Gupta; Ex MLC, Tasduq Hussain and other civil society members also attended the meeting.

The Deputy Commissioner informed that the vaccination of45 year and above age group in the district has been completed successfully. He informed that the vaccination for the 18-44 age group is also in progress and nearly fifty percent of them have been given the first dose.  He urged the prominent citizens and civil society members to play an active role in encouraging vaccination in the district for this age group.

He also said that it has become imperative to adhere to the Covid Appropriate Behaviour in view of the apprehensions of the Covid 3rd wave.

He said the role of civil society has become more important in generating awareness and averting the Covid 3rd wave.

Responding to social issues, the Deputy Commissioner apprised that several measures are being taken to curb the menace of drug abuse. He stressed upon the concerned officers and the civil society members to play a positive role in this connection and motivate the youth to take part in sports.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that a transparent, accountable, responsive and efficient administration is ensured in the district and persistent efforts are being made to reach out to the public at their doorsteps for delivery of services and listening to their grievances.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri interacted with the Media fraternity and acknowledged their role in social awareness against vaccine hesitancy. He urged them to play a positive role in maintaining peace and development in the district and disseminate Information about CAB.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the media is 4th pillar of democracy and provides the government public feedback on the deliverance of transparent and accountable governance to people.

          It was informed that the District Administration is going to hold a mega cultural event on   28th and 29th of this month and urged the public to ensure their maximum participation in the programme. “To enhance the tourist footfall in the district, the district administration has issued guidelines for traffic restrictions in different parts of the city during evening hours and I appeal to the public to ensure full cooperation in this regard”, the Deputy Commissioner informed.
