UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER-11: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Piyush Singla today appealed to the people to adhere to time restriction on bursting of firecrackers on festivals as ordered by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
The DDC informed that the use/bursting of the crackers shall be restricted to only two hours during the festivals in the district. He said that the timing shall be 8: Pm to 10: Pm on Diwali and on Guru Purab; from 6: Am to 8: Am on Chhatt Puja and from 11:55 Pm to 12: 30 Noon on eve of Christmas and the New Year.
DDC appealed to the general public of the District to strictly follow the timing. Concerned Tehsildars & Station House officers were asked to implement these restrictions strictly in their respective jurisdictions.
It is pertinent to mention here that the District Magistrate Udhampur has already imposed restrictions under section 144 CrPc on stocking/possession/attempted sale of imported firecrackers (Chinese crackers) within the territorial Jurisdiction of District Udhampur.
Any violation in this regard shall be dealt with stringently under relevant sections of law.
