Delhi’s Air Quality Remains in ‘Poor’ Category Amid Rising Pollution Levels

Thirty-one monitoring stations report poor air conditions, while Jahangirpuri records the highest AQI of 345 amid continued pollution concerns.

NEW DELHI, Nov 1: Delhi continued to experience poor air quality on Sunday, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 222 at 9 am, according to data available on the Sameer app.

Of the capital’s 54 air quality monitoring stations, 31 reported pollution levels in the poor category, while three registered very poor conditions. Jahangirpuri emerged as the most polluted location, recording an AQI of 345, followed by Punjabi Bagh at 317.

The weather conditions also remained relatively cool, with the minimum temperature settling at 18 degrees Celsius, 1.9 degrees below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has forecast mainly clear skies throughout the day, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 29 degrees Celsius.

Relative humidity stood at 98 per cent at 8.30 am, reflecting high moisture levels in the morning atmosphere.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI readings between zero and 50 fall under the good category, while readings from 51 to 100 are considered satisfactory. An AQI of 101 to 200 is classified as moderate, 201 to 300 as poor, 301 to 400 as very poor, and 401 to 500 as severe.

The latest readings indicate that pollution levels across several parts of the national capital remain a concern, with multiple monitoring stations continuing to report unhealthy air conditions.
