Delhi’s Narela: Drunk Teacher Assaults, Bullies Zomato Delivery Boy

Delivery agent bullied and physically attacked while making a routine order; police intervene and launch inquiry.

A Zomato delivery agent, identified as Arjun, was reportedly bullied and assaulted by two intoxicated men in Narela, Delhi, Delhi Police said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on Monday night during a routine food delivery. According to Arjun, the two men forcibly took the order without making the payment and hurled abuses when he confronted them.

“Arjun said the two men had placed a food order but forcibly took the delivery without making the payment,” said Hareshwar Swami, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North).

Police responded promptly after receiving the complaint. One of the accused, Rishi Kumar, a local school teacher, was found in an inebriated state. When questioned, he became aggressive, abused the police, and resisted questioning, forcing officers to remove him from the premises.

Kumar was then taken for a medical examination (MLC), during which he falsely gave his name as ‘Ram Kumar.’

Since Arjun was pressed for time due to work, he did not file a formal written complaint immediately. However, the teacher was counselled by the police and later sent home. Authorities confirmed that an inquiry into the incident is currently underway.
