Punjabi, Oct 1 : Actor singer Diljit Dosanjh, hailing from Dosanjha village near Jalandhar, combined wit, intelligence, and compassion on the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), where he correctly answered 14 questions to win ₹50 lakh.
In a heartwarming gesture, Dosanjh announced that he would donate the entire prize money through a global Sikh organisation to support families affected by floods in Punjab. “I wanted to win more for my people, but the buzzer stopped me,” he said with a smile.
His entry on the KBC stage was met with thunderous applause, as host Amitabh Bachchan welcomed him affectionately as “Punjab da puttar.” Bachchan also reminisced about his maternal connection to Punjab, sharing stories about his mother, Teji Kaur, who belonged to a Sodhi family from the state.
Throughout the episode, Diljit impressed the megastar with his sharp reasoning and calm demeanour. He breezed through the first ten questions without using any lifelines, earning praise from Bachchan, who remarked, “You’re not just talented you’re truly intelligent.”
Dosanjh used his lifelines wisely on questions about the composer of the Doordarshan theme and the ruler associated with the Ellora caves, ultimately clinching the ₹50 lakh prize.
The episode ended with applause and admiration as Diljit dedicated his win to Punjab’s flood-hit families, turning a quiz show victory into a message of empathy and solidarity.
