Director Horticulture inspects activities at Government Grape Farm, Maralian

JAMMU MARCH 18: Director Horticulture Jammu, Ram Savak today visited Government Grape Farm Maralian and inspected the various developmental activities being carried out to achieve the objective of producing quality planting material and make it available for the farmers.

Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, S. Sarbjit Singh briefed the Director about the newly established mother blocks of elite cultivars of Grapes at Govt. Grape Farm Maralian besides the new cultivar, Nabilla of Strawberry whose 10,000 plants have been planted for further multiplication so that farmers can get these plants in the coming season.

He also inspected other developmental activities like ongoing works for the installation of shade net structure, micro-irrigation system, etc., and instructed the concerned Horticulture Development Officer to bring more area under new cultivars of grapes. He further stressed the early installation of a Rain gun for easy irrigation for the nursery plants.

Deputy Director Horticulture, Shafiqa Khalid; Chief Canning Instructor, Vikas Anand; Deputy Director Planning, Ankita Sharma and other officers accompanied the Director during the tour.
