Div Com Jammu reviews arrangements for District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee elections

JAMMU, MARCH 06: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma today convened a video conference meeting of Deputy Commissioners to review the arrangements for smooth conduct of District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee elections.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Central, Kulbushan Khajuria, and other concerned officers, while all Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division along with other concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.

Threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements. The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the arrangements being put in place by the district administration for ensuring smooth conduct of the elections.

Pertinently, the Financial Commissioner Revenue has already notified the schedule for preparation of electoral rolls with Jan 1, 2021, as the qualifying date for the conduct of elections of District Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee elections.

As per the notification, the electoral rolls under Rule 6 would be published by the Election Authority (Draft Electoral Rolls) on March 9, 2021; Filing of claims and objections under Rule 7 would start from March 9, 2021, and continue till March 24, 2021; disposal of claims and objections under Rule 7 would done from March 24, 2021, to March 29, 2021; The Publication of final electoral rolls under rule 7 would done on April 3, 2021.

The Divisional Commissioner directed all the Deputy Commissioners to put in place all necessary arrangements well in advance.
