Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Assures No Poor Person to be Affected in Land Encroachment Drive

SRINAGAR, Feb 17: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, assured on Friday that the ongoing land encroachment drive in Jammu and Kashmir will not affect poor people. Bidhuri, who recently took over the position, stated that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had made it clear that the drive is targeted at a specific group of people and no poor individuals will be touched. He emphasized that the administration’s duty is to protect state land.

The ongoing demolition drive has sparked anger across Jammu and Kashmir, with some parts observing a shutdown recently. Bidhuri added that the land being recovered would only be used for the people living in the region, and preparations for the upcoming G-20 meeting in Srinagar are underway. He asked people to use online government services for transparency and assured them that the construction work would be completed in time for the summit.
