SAMBA, NOVEMBER 09: To Commemorate the Legal Services Day, the District Legal Services Authority Samba, under the insightful directions of Yesh Pal Kotwal, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Samba(also Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge Samba), organized Legal Awareness Program on “Expanding Horizons of Access to Justice and the Role of Legal Services Institutions” in collaboration with Dogra Law College, Bari Brahamana, Samba at Auditorium , Dogra Law Law College Bari Brahamana ,Samba .
This program was presided over by Yesh Pal Kotwal Chairman District Legal Services Authority Samba, who in his Address dwelt at length upon various aspects of Legal Aid and Legal Services in India and also the historical back ground of the ritual enactment of the Legal Services Authority Act , 1987. He also explained in brief the celebrated Judgements of the Hon’ble Supreme Court i.e Arnesh Kumar vs. State of Bihar AIR 2014 SC 2756 ;V.SENTHIL BALAJI VERSUS THE STATE ,CRIMINAL APPEAL NOS . 2284-2285 OF 2023 Decided on july31, 2023 including the provisions of section 41-A, 167 (2) section 436&437 of CrPc etc. He also discussed as to how the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) act as a bridge between the Legal Services institutions and enitled beneficiaries under Section 12 of the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 for providing free Legal aid and services.
Gulchain Singh Charak Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust also spoke on the occasion. Welcome address was presented by Dr. Avdhesh Pratap, Principal, Dogra Law College , Bari Brahamana , Samba whereas formal vote of thanks was presented by Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary , District Legal Services Authority Samba.
This event was witnessed by Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Convener, Legal Aid Cell ,Legal Aid Committee, Academic Coordinator, Faculty Members and students of Dogra Law College , Bari Brahamana , Samba, staff and PLVs of DLSA Samba . In the end of the programme, the students who shared their Discourses on the subject theme were felicitated by the Chief Guest.
