Doda Leads Jammu Zone in Mobile Recovery, Traces Stolen Devices Worth ₹8.87 Lakh

Cyber Police Doda cracks cyber fraud, retrieves 57 lost mobile phones and ₹8 lakh in defrauded money, showcasing strong technical expertise.

DODA, Sep 17: The J&K Police in Doda district has topped the Jammu Zone in recovering lost and stolen mobile phones through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, according to a report from the Ministry of Communication, Government of India.

Cyber Police Station Doda, under the supervision of SSP Sandeep Mehta (JKPS) and led by Insp. Surinder Veer and PSI Ankush Nagra (Nodal CEIR), demonstrated exceptional technical skills and professionalism. The team successfully recovered ₹8,00,835 in defrauded online money and traced 57 lost mobile phones valued at ₹8,87,715 from across various states and UTs.

In a press briefing, SSP Sandeep Mehta commended the Cyber Police team for their relentless efforts in tackling cybercrime, supported by the ESU unit headed by PSI Sahil Kumar. He personally handed over the recovered devices to their rightful owners at District Police Headquarters, Doda.

Expressing gratitude, the owners lauded the district police for their tireless work in tracing and returning their lost devices. SSP Mehta urged the public to safeguard their mobile phones, stressing that personal data theft could lead to misuse.

He further advised citizens to immediately report lost or stolen phones on the CEIR portal (www.ceir.gov.in
) or cybercrime complaints at www.cybercrime.gov.in
, and in case of online fraud, use the National Helpline number 1930.

So far, Cyber Police Doda has recovered a total of ₹56.77 lakh in defrauded money and traced 276 mobile phones worth ₹47.29 lakh, reaffirming its position as a leader in cybercrime investigation and recovery.
