Dr. Farooq Abdullah demands time-bound probe into Jammu youth killing

Srinagar, 27 July: The J&K National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sunday expressed deep sorrow and anguish over the killing of a youth, Muhammad Parvez, in the Nikki Tawi area of Jammu. Calling the incident “deeply unfortunate and regrettable,” Dr. Farooq demanded a transparent and time-bound investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.

In a statement issued to the media, Dr. Farooq echoed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s call for accountability and justice, emphasizing that the use of force by law enforcement agencies must be both responsible and proportionate.

“This tragic loss of life cannot be brushed aside. It is imperative that a swift and impartial inquiry be initiated so that the truth comes to light and those responsible are held accountable,” Dr. Farooq said.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. “My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Muhammad Parvez in this hour of immense grief. Justice must prevail,” he added.

Dr. Abdullah also cautioned that such incidents have previously caused irreparable damage to public trust and societal harmony, urging authorities to prevent their recurrence.

He appreciated the efforts of HCM Omar Abdullah, National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar and other senior party leaders for raising the matter with seriousness and concern.
