Dry Weather Forecasted with Occasional Evening Showers in Jammu and Kashmir

On June 7th,2023 :  The weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir predicts mainly dry conditions with a chance of rain and thunderstorms in scattered areas during the evening. According to a meteorological department official, the period from June 8th to 12th is expected to remain predominantly dry, although a brief spell of showers and thunderstorms in the evening cannot be ruled out, although the likelihood is relatively low at 10-20%.

In terms of temperature, Srinagar experienced a minimum temperature of 12.4°C, slightly higher than the previous night’s reading of 11.2°C, resulting in a deviation of 1.0°C below the summer capital’s normal range. Similarly, Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 11.2°C compared to 9.2°C the previous night, exhibiting a deviation of 0.8°C below normal.

Pahalgam, a renowned tourist resort in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, observed a minimum temperature of 6.0°C, just below the previous night’s reading of 5.9°C, indicating a deviation of 1.0°C below the expected normal temperature. In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 11.2°C, slightly higher than the previous night’s 9.2°C, but still 0.5°C below the area’s normal temperature.

The officials reported that Kokernag recorded a low of 8.4°C, unchanged from the previous night, but significantly below normal by 3.4°C. Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, witnessed a minimum temperature of 6.0°C, compared to 5.0°C the previous night, with a deviation of 2.1°C below normal.

Moving to Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, the minimum temperature stood at 23.0°C, higher than the previous night’s 21.4°C, but still 2.7°C below normal. Banihal recorded a low of 12.2°C, indicating a deviation of 1.1°C below normal. Similarly, Batote registered a minimum temperature of 13.0°C, 2.4°C below normal. Katra, a significant religious destination, experienced a low of 19.0°C, deviating by 3.1°C below normal. Bhaderwah recorded a minimum temperature of 10.4°C, displaying a deviation of 3.4°C below normal.

In Ladakh, Leh witnessed a minimum temperature of 2.4°C, while Kargil observed 10.4°C.
