Jammu, Feb 25: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday condemned the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raid on his brother Vijay Choudhary’s residence, calling it “unfortunate” and alleging it was intended to prevent his promotion.
Speaking to reporters, Choudhary highlighted his brother’s distinguished career, noting his active involvement in counter-terror operations in Thanamandi and Doda. “Instead of rewarding him for his service, they have sent the ACB to his house… This is unfortunate. Today, these people have come to my brother’s house to stop his promotion so that he is not made DSP,” he said.
The Deputy CM emphasised Vijay Choudhary’s exemplary track record in tackling terrorism and criminal activities. He underscored the family’s military background, recalling that their father served in the army, and praised the hard work and perseverance that brought them to their current position. “Throughout his career, that officer has firmly fought against terrorism and criminals. Wherever he was posted, people know that he built a strong reputation for himself. We come from a soldier’s family, and our achievements are a result of consistent hard work,” Choudhary added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the ACB carried out searches at Vijay Choudhary’s home in connection with an alleged disproportionate assets case. The officer has served in Jammu and Kashmir Police and was recently transferred to Ladakh.
