ECI Issues Notification for J&K’s First Phase Polls; 24 Constituencies Set for September 18 Voting

Jammu, 20-08-2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday issued the notification for the first phase of the upcoming three-phase assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. In this phase, 24 assembly constituencies will head to the polls on September 18.

With the notification now in effect, the nomination process for candidates has officially commenced. The deadline for submitting nominations for the first phase is August 27, with scrutiny scheduled for August 28. Candidates have until August 30 to withdraw their nominations. If necessary, voting will take place on September 18.

In this initial phase, 16 assembly constituencies in the Kashmir Valley—specifically in South Kashmir—and eight constituencies in the Jammu region will participate in the polls.

The constituencies in Kashmir include Pampore, Tral, Pulwama, Rajpora, Zainapora, Shopian, D H Pora, Kulgam, Devsar, Dooru, Kokernag (ST), Anantnag West, Anantnag, Srigufwara-Bijbehara, Shangus-Anantnag East, and Pahalgam.

In the Jammu region, the constituencies of Inderwal, Kishtwar, Padder-Nagseni, Bhadarwah, Doda, Doda West, Ramban, and Banihal will be voting in this phase.
