ED Conducts Raids at Punjab AAP MLA’s Premises and Family Members in PMLA Case

The searches covered seven locations, including properties linked to the Moga legislator, her relatives and associates, as part of an investigation into alleged irregularities involving government land and highway compensation.

CHANDIGARH, Nov. 4: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches at seven locations linked to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora and her family members as part of a money laundering investigation involving alleged fraudulent transactions related to government properties.

According to officials, the operation covered the residences of Arora, who represents the Moga Assembly constituency and serves as president of the AAP Punjab Women’s Wing, along with premises belonging to her relatives and other associates.

The investigating agency also searched a de-addiction hospital associated with her husband, Dr Rakesh Arora, as part of the action.

The investigation is being conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and originates from a First Information Report registered by the Punjab Police in June 2024.

The police case concerns alleged irregularities in the mutation of government land acquired for National Highway No. 754A in Moga district. The allegations also involve the purported wrongful release of compensation for the acquired property.

Investigators are examining the alleged financial transactions and the circumstances surrounding the transfer of land ownership records and distribution of compensation.

The ED’s searches are aimed at gathering documents and other evidence relevant to the suspected money laundering activities. Further investigation is expected to establish the nature of the alleged financial dealings and identify the individuals involved.

The action comes ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, which are expected to take place early next year, adding a political dimension to the development.

The agency has not publicly disclosed further details about the findings of Wednesday’s searches or announced any arrests in connection with the case.
