BENGALURU, Sept 9: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday conducted searches at the premises of Karnataka Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi, his daughter and Congress MP Priyanka Jarkiholi, and several others as part of a fresh investigation, officials said.
According to the officials, around 18 locations across Karnataka were being searched by ED teams. The premises included those linked to the 64-year-old minister in Bengaluru’s Dollars Colony, as well as properties associated with Priyanka Jarkiholi and her uncle, Y D Manjunath, in Belagavi.
Central Reserve Police Force personnel were deployed to provide security to the agency teams during the searches.
Priyanka Jarkiholi, 29, is the Lok Sabha member from Chikkodi in Karnataka.
There was no immediate response from Satish Jarkiholi, Priyanka Jarkiholi or the Congress party regarding the searches.
Officials said the action relates to a fresh investigation, reportedly being conducted under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
They clarified that the present searches are separate from an earlier money laundering investigation involving Manjunath, who is an excise department officer.
The ED action comes as the agency continues its scrutiny of suspected financial and foreign exchange-related violations. Further details about the nature of the allegations and the material being examined were not immediately available.
