PHILADELPHIA, Sep 21 : Ed Sheeran continued his Loop Tour in Philadelphia despite a growing controversy surrounding the withdrawal of several artists and members of his touring band.
During his performance at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, Sheeran spoke openly about the difficult week he had experienced. He told the audience that the situation had made him reconsider some of his personal relationships, while also thanking fans for continuing to attend his concerts.
The singer performed before a crowd of around 50,000 people, with the concert proceeding without the originally billed opening acts. The withdrawals followed the removal of rapper Macklemore from the tour lineup.
Sheeran also acknowledged that some people close to him had urged him to cancel the tour. However, he pointed to the continued demand for tickets as evidence that audiences were still turning up for his performances.
The Philadelphia concert marked another step in the singer’s ongoing tour schedule as the controversy surrounding the lineup changes continues to attract attention.
