ED Summons Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh, Sonu Sood Over Online Betting App Case

Enforcement Directorate to record statements under PMLA as part of investigation into alleged illegal online betting app.

New Delhi, Sep 16: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned former cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh, along with actor Sonu Sood, for questioning in connection with an alleged illegal online betting app and linked money laundering case, officials said Tuesday.

Uthappa (39) is scheduled to appear on September 22, Singh (43) on September 23, and Sood (52) on September 24 to have their statements recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) concerning the platform 1xBet, the officials added.

In recent weeks, the ED has questioned former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan as part of the probe. Actress and former TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty also appeared for questioning on Monday, while Bengali actor Ankush Hazra appeared on Tuesday. Actor Urvashi Rautela, the India brand ambassador of 1xBet, is yet to appear.

The investigation pertains to alleged illegal betting apps that reportedly defrauded several people and investors of crores of rupees and evaded taxes. 1xBet, a globally recognised bookmaker, operates for 18 years and offers customers the ability to place bets on thousands of sporting events through its website and app, available in 70 languages.
