Eight Freight Train Wagons Derailed in Asansol, Restoration Work Underway

Accident Relief Trains rushed to site as restoration work continues on war footing

Madhupur, Dec 28 : Eight wagons of a goods train derailed late Friday night between Lahaban and Simultala stations under the Asansol Division of Eastern Railway, disrupting train operations on both the up and down lines, railway officials said.

According to the Railways, the incident occurred at around 11:25 p.m. on December 27 at kilometre 344/05. Following the derailment, rail traffic on both tracks was affected.

On receiving information, Accident Relief Trains (ARTs) from Asansol, Madhupur and Jhajha were immediately dispatched to the site to undertake restoration work.

The Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway said restoration efforts are underway on a war footing to resume normal train operations at the earliest.
