Mumbai, Oct 25: Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s romantic drama, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, has turned out to be a surprise success at the box office, recovering its ₹25 crore budget in just four days. Released on Diwali, the film has maintained steady collections despite facing competition from Maddock Films’ horror-comedy Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.
In its first three days, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat earned ₹22.75 crore net domestically, with no day witnessing a drop of more than 15% despite Diwali being a single-day holiday. On Friday, the film collected ₹5.5 crore, marking only an 8% dip from Thursday. This brought the four-day domestic total to ₹28.25 crore, surpassing the production budget and marking the film profitable within days of release.
The movie, directed by Milap Zaveri, stars Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in the lead roles, alongside Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. Despite receiving mixed to negative critical reviews and some social media criticism for alleged misogyny and glorifying toxic masculinity, the film’s word of mouth has helped it punch above its weight.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’s consistent performance, even while clashing with a bigger-budget release like Thamma on limited screens, indicates positive audience reception, and box office analysts predict further growth over the weekend, ensuring a successful Diwali run.
