Encounter Underway in J&K’s Kishtwar

Joint forces tighten cordon in Dolgam as Operation Trashi-I intensifies mobile internet suspended in nearby areas

Jammu, Jan 31: Security forces early Saturday re-established contact with terrorists hiding in the Dolgam area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, officials confirmed.

The Army said the operation was launched after coordinating actionable intelligence gathered from multiple sources. The encounter is part of the ongoing joint counter terror mission, Operation Trashi-I.

In a statement posted on X, the White Knight Corps said troops from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) made contact with the militants in the early hours of January 31. A comprehensive cordon has been put in place, and search and combing operations are underway.

This marks the fourth engagement with the terrorists in the region over the past two weeks, indicating sustained efforts to neutralise the threat.

Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma visited Kishtwar to assess the counter-terrorism framework amid the continuing operation against three Jaish-e-Mohammad militants believed to be operating in the district.

As a precautionary measure, authorities temporarily suspended mobile internet services within a six-kilometre radius, covering Singhpora, Chingam, and Chatroo, to prevent any potential misuse during the operation.
