LONDON, Aug. 30: England wrapped up a commanding Test series victory over Pakistan on Sunday, defeating the visitors by 194 runs at Lord’s to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three match contest.
Chasing a daunting target of 389 runs in the fourth innings, Pakistan struggled against England’s disciplined bowling attack and were eventually bowled out for 194. The defeat extended their difficult run in overseas Test cricket.
Ollie Robinson was the standout performer for England, finishing with eight wickets in the match. His second innings figures of 4-24 played a crucial role in breaking Pakistan’s resistance and putting the hosts firmly in control.
Saud Shakeel provided Pakistan with their strongest response, scoring a determined 97. He narrowly missed a century but earned recognition for his fighting knock as England maintained pressure throughout the innings.
Pakistan had earlier dismissed England for 208 in their second innings, with Mohammad Abbas claiming five wickets. However, the visitors were unable to capitalise on that bowling effort while chasing the sizeable target.
The result gives England their first home Test series victory in two years. Joe Root and his teammates will now turn their attention to the final match, which is scheduled to begin at Edgbaston on September 9.
Pakistan, meanwhile, will look to regroup after suffering two substantial defeats in the opening matches of the series.
