UNITED NATIONS, Sep 23: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan once again referred to the Kashmir issue while addressing world leaders at the high-level 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking on Tuesday, Erdogan said disputes in South Asia, including Kashmir, should be addressed through dialogue in accordance with the UN Charter and relevant resolutions.
His latest remarks mark another reference to Kashmir in his UNGA speeches. In September last year, Erdogan had also called for a resolution to the issue during his address to the General Assembly.
However, he did not mention Jammu and Kashmir in his UNGA speech in 2024.
Erdogan had earlier referred to Jammu and Kashmir in a pre-recorded video address to the UN General Debate in 2020. India had rejected the remarks as “completely unacceptable” and said Türkiye should respect the sovereignty of other countries and examine its own policies.
