New Delhi, Oct 10 : The Delhi High Court witnessed a dramatic hearing on Thursday over the disputed inheritance of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, former husband of actress Karisma Kapoor. The case took an emotional turn as legal representatives of Karisma’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, leveled serious accusations against Sunjay’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur.
Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, representing the Kapoor children, alleged that the will presented by Priya was “fake and fabricated”, designed to cut Samaira and Kiaan out of their father’s estate and give Priya full control over the assets.
“Sunjay Kapur had no role in his own will,” Jethmalani told the court. He cited travel records and digital data showing that Sunjay was on holiday with his son Kiaan from March 15 to 18, 2025, the same period during which the will was allegedly altered.
The advocate claimed that the will was tampered with on March 17 at 11:54 am, when Sunjay was not even in Delhi, and that his digital activity had been replaced by that of others involved in the alleged conspiracy.
“This falls under Section 467 of the Indian Penal Code, which allows for life imprisonment for forging a will,” Jethmalani added.
In a striking remark, the lawyer described Priya Sachdev Kapur as “an evil Cinderella mother”, accusing her of attempting to push Samaira, Kiaan, and even their grandmother, Rani Kapur, out of the family picture. He alleged that Priya manipulated the situation to consolidate wealth and power within her household.
Jethmalani further claimed that Priya created an atmosphere of secrecy around the family assets by forcing relatives to sign non-disclosure agreements before discussing estate matters.
The disputed will, dated March 21, 2025, reportedly transfers Sunjay Kapur’s entire personal estate to Priya Sachdev Kapur, a move that Samaira and Kiaan have challenged as part of “a criminal conspiracy” involving Priya and her associates.
The court is expected to continue hearing arguments as the high-stakes battle over the Sunjay Kapur inheritance dispute unfolds.
