Mumbai, Feb 09 : Actor Fahadh Faasil has confirmed that he will be seen in a negative role in Patriot, the upcoming Malayalam thriller directed by Mahesh Narayanan that features Mammootty and Mohanlal together. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on April 23 and is among the most awaited projects in Malayalam cinema this year.
Speaking at a public event, Fahadh openly acknowledged his character arc, stating that he plays the antagonist in the film, a revelation that drew a strong reaction from fans. During the same interaction, he also addressed speculation around a sequel to Aavesham, confirming that Aavesham 2 is in development and is likely to take shape around 2027 or 2028.
Meanwhile, the makers announced that Mohanlal has completed dubbing for his portions. A video shared on the film’s official social media handle showed the actor wrapping up his session, with the team highlighting the impact of his voice and screen presence.
Production on Patriot has already been completed. The crew marked the wrap earlier this year with a behind-the-scenes video, signalling the film’s progression into post-production.
The film boasts an ensemble cast including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara and Revathy. Its teaser, released last year, sparked intense discussion with its sharp political undertones and ends with a provocative line questioning the idea of patriotism versus betrayal.
Patriot is expected to delve into themes surrounding state surveillance and civil liberties, positioning it as a high-stakes, socially driven political thriller.
