SIT probes firing incident at Jammu wedding; public urged to share digital evidence

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have appealed to the public to share videos, photographs and any relevant information related to the recent firing incident targeting Farooq Abdullah during a wedding समारोह in the Greater Kailash area.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the case, following the incident that occurred on March 11 at a banquet venue. Authorities said the team is working to gather all available evidence to ensure a thorough and transparent inquiry.

Deputy Inspector General Shiv Kumar Sharma urged attendees of the function and others who may possess digital material or information to come forward and assist investigators. Police have also provided dedicated contact numbers for submissions.

An FIR has been registered at Gangyal police station, while senior officials, including Bhim Sen Tuti, have emphasised the seriousness of the case and the need for swift action.

The accused, identified as Kamal Singh, was apprehended at the scene, and a weapon was recovered. Officials said public cooperation will be crucial in reconstructing the sequence of events and strengthening the investigation.
