Jammu, 02-04-2024 : Farooq Abdullah, the leader of the National Conference, accused the BJP of aiming to establish a rule akin to Russia and China’s authoritarian regimes in India. He emphasized the formation of the INDIA bloc to protect the Constitution, even if it means sacrificing lives. Abdullah criticized the BJP-led Centre for remaining silent on issues such as China’s encroachment in Ladakh and territorial claims in Arunachal Pradesh while focusing on historical matters like the Katchatheevu island dispute with Sri Lanka.
During a visit to Jammu to support Congress candidate Raman Bhalla, Abdullah stressed the importance of safeguarding the Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He highlighted concerns over China’s territorial aggression and questioned the Centre’s response to it.
Abdullah expressed frustration over the lack of progress in resolving the border disputes with China despite numerous rounds of talks. He urged the BJP to prioritize addressing China’s incursions and territorial claims over historical grievances with Sri Lanka.
Responding to speculation about opposition within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the National Conference’s candidate selection, Abdullah dismissed the notion of discord and asserted unity among key leaders. He affirmed the INDIA bloc’s resolve and confidence in their electoral prospects, particularly in the Jammu constituency.
Abdullah remained undeterred by the possibility of opposition candidates challenging the National Conference’s nominees, reiterating the strength and cohesion of their alliance. He expressed optimism about Bhalla’s chances of winning in Jammu, emphasizing the bloc’s unwavering commitment to their electoral goals.
