SRINAGAR, Nov 1: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday encouraged tourists visiting the Valley to explore the newly opened Chrysanthemum Garden in Srinagar, describing it as a “beautiful addition” to Kashmir’s floral attractions.
The Chrysanthemum Garden, also known as Bagh-e-Gul-e-Dawood, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on October 25 at the Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden. Speaking during his visit, Farooq Abdullah praised the efforts of the Floriculture Department for developing the Valley’s first garden dedicated to chrysanthemums.
“This is a beautiful garden. None of the flowers have been imported; they have all been grown here. After the Tulip Garden, this will be another major attraction that requires minimal maintenance,” he said.
Highlighting its appeal during the autumn season, Abdullah noted that Kashmir generally lacks major floral attractions at this time of the year. “Tourists should visit and witness the beauty and vibrant colours of this garden,” he added.
The NC leader also extended his appreciation to the gardeners and officials involved in the project for their dedication in creating such a visually stunning space that adds to Kashmir’s natural charm.
