FIBDO Hails Parliamentary Milestone on National Blood Transfusion Bill, 2025; Extends Gratitude to Dr. Ajeet Gopchade and Shri Parshottam Rupala

JAMMU, 06-Dec-2025: Vikrant Dogra, on behalf of JKUT FIBDO chapter, a proud member of The Federation of Indian Blood Donors Organizations (FIBDO) today expressed its profound gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Ajeet Madhavrao Gopchade, Honourable Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), and Shri Parshottam Rupala, Honourable Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), for presenting the National Blood Transfusion Bill, 2025, in their respective Houses of Parliament.

This landmark legislative initiative, now tabled in both houses, marks a historic and significant victory for the voluntary blood donation movement in India. It addresses a long-pending, core demand of FIBDO and its nationwide network of donor organizations. For years, FIBDO has relentlessly advocated for comprehensive, central legislation to modernize, standardize, and secure the country’s blood transfusion services, ensuring safety, equity, and access for all citizens. In a statement, FIBDO leadership hailed the bipartisan effort and the shared commitment to public health. “The presentation of this Bill in both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha is the culmination of years of persistent advocacy and reflects a powerful, unified vision for a safer blood ecosystem in India. We are deeply indebted to Dr. Ajeet Gopchade for his pioneering initiative in the Rajya Sabha and his sustained engagement with our cause. We are equally thankful to Shri Parshottam Rupala for championing this Bill in the Lok Sabha, ensuring it receives the national attention it deserves. Their collaborative statesmanship on this critical issue is commendable,” said Mr. Biswaroop Biswas, President of the Federation of Indian Blood Donors Organizations (FIBDO).

The proposed legislation is designed to create a robust national framework for blood collection, processing, storage, and distribution. It aims to enhance transparency, promote voluntary non-remunerated donation, strengthen regulatory oversight, and ultimately benefit the entire nation by ensuring a safe, sufficient, and reliable blood supply.

FIBDO emphasized that while the presentation in both houses is an unprecedented and monumental step, the journey towards enactment continues. The federation now earnestly urges all members of Parliament across party lines to support the swift, constructive discussion and unanimous passage of this vital public health legislation. “We call upon all parliamentarians to unite in passing this bill, which holds the promise of saving countless lives and fortifying the very foundation of India’s healthcare system,” the statement added.
