QAZIGUND, Feb 3: A fireman sustained minor injuries while battling a massive fire that broke out at Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Qazigund on Tuesday morning, completely gutting the building and causing extensive damage.
Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) personnel, assisted by local residents, rushed to the scene and carried out operations to control the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.
During the rescue efforts, one firefighter fell from the roof and was treated for minor injuries at the Emergency Hospital Qazigund before being referred to GMC Anantnag for further care, according to Medical Superintendent Dr. Shagufta Salam.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and authorities are assessing the extent of the losses.
