New Delhi, Nov 19 : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold crucial pre-budget consultations with representatives of the BFSI sector on Wednesday, November 19, beginning at 11 am. The meeting will bring together leaders from the banking, financial services and insurance industries to share sector-specific recommendations for the upcoming Union Budget.
Pre-Budget Talks Move to BFSI and IT Sectors
Later in the day, discussions will also involve key voices from the information technology (IT) sector. These interactions are expected to revolve around financial stability, digital infrastructure expansion, regulatory reforms and emerging industry challenges.
Next Phase: Hospitality, Labour and Infrastructure Inputs
The pre-budget exercise continues on November 20 with stakeholders from the hospitality and tourism sector, followed by a meeting with major labour unions to address workforce priorities and employment concerns.
On November 21, representatives from infrastructure, energy and urban development will present proposals targeting long-term economic growth and sustainability. The consultation process will conclude on November 26, with inputs from internal ministry officials and social sector organisations.
Earlier Rounds Focused on Economists and MSMEs
The Ministry kickstarted the outreach last week by meeting prominent economists, followed by detailed discussions with MSME representatives, who highlighted credit access, tax relief and growth incentives ahead of the next Budget.
Union Budget 2026 Expected in February
The Union Budget 2026 will be presented in February next year, maintaining the government’s annual schedule. The previous Budget focused on tax relief for middle-income groups, support for startups, infrastructure expansion, fiscal prudence and investment-led growth.
