10-10-2023 : PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti has called on Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to revoke a recent order by the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation, which mandates that tourist guides and service providers must pay for their travel on the second phase of the Gulmarg Gondola Project. She expressed her perplexity over the decision, stating that it adversely affects the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a recent order issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation, it was stipulated that tourist guides and service providers would be required to pay for their rides on the second phase of the Gulmarg Gondola Project if they accompany tourists to Affarwat. Previously, they were allowed to accompany visitors with the help of a special pass. Mehbooba Mufti argued that these individuals already struggle to make a living by assisting tourists and that this order would have a detrimental impact on their livelihoods.
Mufti urged Manoj Sinha to reconsider and rescind the order, emphasizing the potential devastating consequences it could have on the livelihoods of these service providers in the region.
