Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, October 2: On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Vice President of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah, expressed his poignant thoughts, highlighting the unfortunate departure from the path laid out by the Father of the Nation.
Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Omar Abdullah conveyed his deep concern about the current state of affairs, stating, “It is unfortunate that we often veer away from the principles and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, rather than embracing them. If we wholeheartedly adopt the values imparted by Gandhiji, our nation will undoubtedly prosper.”
He further commented on the sporadic remembrance of Gandhi’s teachings, noting, “There are times when it appears that we remember Gandhiji solely when we travel abroad or when foreign dignitaries pay homage at Rajghat during their visits to India. Regrettably, on most other days, not only do we forget his teachings, but we also deviate from the path laid down by Gandhi ji.”
