Fortnightly plantation drive commences at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR JULY 09: Eco-Club of Government College for Women (GCW)  Udhampur in collaboration with the Department of Botany organised a fortnightly plantation drive commenced within the college campus here today.

On the occasion, saplings of Sheeshum were planted by the Principal GCW Udhampur, Dr Monika Sharma accompanied by staff and students of the college.

Dr Monika Sharma emphasised the promotion of eco-sensitivity and green practices among students and applauded the efforts of the ECO Club for coming forward to help in the creation of a healthy environment.

The expert advisor of the plantation drive, Dr Kewal Kumar highlighted the importance of planting near-threatened native species of Sheeshum for maintaining biodiversity on the college campus.

The drive was also graced by Dr Kewal Kumar (HOD Chem.), Dr Ashni Devi, (HOD Botany), Dr Sanjeet Kour (HOD Zoology), Prof. Suneel (Convener IQAC) Prof Rajeev Singh (Coordinator ECO Club), Prof Tania Mahajan, Prof Pooja Bharti and Prof Yash Kumar and large numbers of students.
