Four Arrested in J&K for Allegedly Aiding Terrorists with Logistical Support

Security forces recover grenade, ammunition, and communication devices during late-night operation in Hazratbal

SRINAGAR, Apr 23: In a significant crackdown on terror support networks, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir apprehended four over ground workers (OGWs), including a woman, for allegedly facilitating logistical assistance to militants in Srinagar.
The arrests were carried out during a coordinated operation in the Hazratbal area late Wednesday night. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police teams conducted targeted raids, leading to the detention of the suspects believed to be actively aiding terrorist elements operating in the region.
According to officials, the individuals have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, and Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, all residents of Hazratbal. The fourth accused, a woman, was identified as Shazia Mohammad, also from the same locality. Authorities suspect that the group was part of a broader support network that provides crucial assistance to militants, including shelter, communication, and transportation.
During the operation, security personnel recovered a cache of incriminating materials from the possession of the accused. The seized items included a hand grenade, 15 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, four mobile phones, and a sum of cash. Officials stated that these recoveries indicate the group’s active involvement in supporting terror-related activities.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were in close contact with active militants and played a role in ensuring logistical arrangements that enable such groups to sustain operations. The recovered mobile devices are expected to provide further leads into the network and help identify additional links and collaborators.
Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Arms Act. The accused are currently in custody, and further interrogation is underway to uncover the full extent of their involvement and any potential connections to recent incidents in the region.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to dismantling terror support infrastructure and urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies. The operation underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb militant activities and maintain peace and stability in the Valley.
