Bandipora, Mar 7: Authorities on Saturday suspended vehicular movement on the road connecting Bandipora with Gurez Valley after fresh snowfall made travel risky at Razdan Top.
Officials said the decision was taken as a precautionary step after snow accumulation created slippery conditions and reduced visibility at the high altitude pass.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Gurez Valley, Mukhtar Ahmad, confirmed that traffic on the route has been halted until further orders to ensure public safety.
“Due to snowfall at Razdan Top and as a precautionary measure, movement on the Bandipora–Gurez road will remain suspended till further orders,” he said.
Razdan Top, situated at an elevation of more than 11,000 feet, serves as the primary road link between Bandipora district and the remote Gurez Valley in north Kashmir.
Officials noted that the route often faces disruptions during winter months because of heavy snowfall and harsh weather conditions in the mountainous region.
Authorities added that the situation is being closely monitored and the road will be reopened once weather conditions improve and snow clearance operations are completed to ensure safe travel.
