New Delhi, Dec 21: President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday gave her assent to the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Bill, 2025, the Ministry of Rural Development said.

The Bill, which was passed by Parliament amid protests by opposition parties, seeks to replace the existing Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Under the new legislation, rural households will be entitled to a minimum of 125 days of wage employment per financial year. The government said the scheme is designed to create a comprehensive rural development framework aligned with the national vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, with a focus on employment generation and livelihood security in rural areas.
