Nagpur, Mar 9: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday visited the residence of Purvesh Duragkar in Nagpur and paid tributes to the officer who died in a Sukhoi Su-30MKI crash in Assam.
In a message shared on social media, Gadkari said he met the pilot’s family members and expressed his condolences over their loss.
Duragkar and fellow officer Anuj were killed after their fighter aircraft went down in Karbi Anglong district. According to the Indian Air Force, the aircraft was on a training sortie when it lost contact with radar shortly after taking off from Jorhat Airbase on Thursday.
The mortal remains of the 28 year old officer were cremated in Nagpur on Saturday with full military honours. The final rites were attended by family members, relatives, defence personnel and several dignitaries who gathered to pay their last respects.
Duragkar is survived by his parents and his sister, who were present during the ceremony honouring the fallen officer.
