Gaurav Gupta meets LG Manoj Sinha, proposes AI-led inclusive development across J&K
JAMMU: BJP Spokesperson and Convenor, International Affairs, Gaurav Gupta today met Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and presented a comprehensive vision aimed at transforming Jammu & Kashmir into a fully AI-driven, technologically empowered, and future-ready Union Territory.
Gupta emphasized the urgent need for J&K to actively embrace artificial intelligence so that the region does not lag behind in the global technology revolution. Drawing inspiration from the recent India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi, where global policymakers, industry leaders, and technology experts highlighted the potential of AI for inclusive development, governance, healthcare, and education, Gupta stressed that J&K must implement AI-led initiatives immediately to benefit all regions, including remote and underserved districts.
During the meeting, Gupta highlighted that AI-enabled smart classrooms, virtual labs, online mentorship, and digital connectivity must reach every corner of the Union Territory to bridge the urban-rural divide. He urged that universities like the University of Jammu and University of Kashmir act as nodal centers for AI research and development, while affiliated colleges in far-flung areas be connected digitally for faculty exchange programs, certification courses, and innovation incubation.
Gupta also outlined the integration of AI into district administration to improve service delivery, governance transparency, and welfare monitoring. He stressed that AI-driven telemedicine, predictive healthcare tools, and disaster management systems could revolutionize public service and safety in remote regions. Additionally, he highlighted AI-enabled solutions in agriculture, horticulture, and entrepreneurship to boost productivity, generate local employment, and retain skilled youth within the Union Territory.
Pointing to the global emphasis at the Delhi AI Summit, Gupta said, “The summit demonstrated that AI is no longer optional; it is a strategic necessity. Jammu & Kashmir must leverage this opportunity to emerge as a model of inclusive, innovation-led development in India.” He called for immediate action in strengthening broadband and digital infrastructure, deploying AI in governance and healthcare, promoting startups, and ensuring continuous skill development for students, faculty, and government officials.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated the detailed roadmap and assured full administrative support to implement technology-driven initiatives across the Union Territory, emphasizing that inclusive AI adoption can transform governance, education, healthcare, and local economies.
Gaurav Gupta concluded by reaffirming his belief that under the visionary leadership of LG Manoj Sinha, Jammu & Kashmir can become a future-ready, AI-driven Union Territory, setting benchmarks for innovation, inclusivity, and competitiveness in the country.
