Thannamandi, April 17: Reinforcing its commitment to experiential and field-based learning, the Department of Geography of Government Degree College Thannamandi organized an educational study tour of geography students to Dera Ki Gali, a significant resource potential and tourist destination situated in the vicinity of the college, to provide students with practical exposure and firsthand academic experience.
The tour was organized under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Shamim Ahmed Azad, Principal of College who flagged off and highlighted the importance of educational excursions in bridging the gap between classroom teaching and practical understanding. He encouraged students to make effective use of such opportunities for academic and personal growth.
Students of 4th and 6th semesters actively participated in the tour and undertook a questionnaire-based field survey to study and document the tourism potential and developmental prospects of the area.
The programme was organized under the overall coordination and supervision of Dr. Gulshan Rashid, and conducted with the active support of Dr. Nazakat Hussain, Dr. Naseem Ahmed Malik, Prof. Fatima Parveen, Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Mr. Mohammad Zubair, who guided and assisted the students during the academic exercise.
The Department expressed profound gratitude to the Principal for his unwavering support, dynamic leadership, and personal efforts in obtaining necessary approval, after ensuring security of students, from the Directorate besides ensuring smooth and efficient management of the entire programme.
The study tour was widely appreciated for offering students an enriching platform to enhance their understanding of tourism geography, field research, and resource evaluation through direct observation and practical engagement.
