Web Desk, 23-12-2023 : The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a concerning surge in COVID-19 cases globally, revealing a 52% increase over the last 28 days compared to the preceding period. In its weekly epidemiological report on Friday, the WHO disclosed that more than 850,000 new cases of the disease were reported during this timeframe. Despite the significant rise in cases, the number of deaths showed a relative decrease, with over 3,000 fatalities recorded, reflecting an 8% reduction from the previous 28-day period.
The cumulative global figures, as of December 17, indicate a staggering count of over 772 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and tragically surpassing 7 million deaths reported to the WHO.
