23-08-2022: Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Dudu Basantgarh, in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society (JKACS), H&ME Department organized a Story Telling Competition today on 23rd August 2022 under the supervision of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand Principal of the college and Prof. Pradeep Kumar Kundal, Nodal Officer of Red-Ribbon Club of the college.
As many as 10 students participated in the competition with great zeal and enthusiasm and expressed their thoughts on different aspects of HIV or youth through their stories. The Principal, Dr. Bhavnaish Chand speaking on the occasion motivated the students to take part in such types of activities of the college so that they can achieve the ultimate goal of education i.e. overall development of a child. He said that HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system. If HIV is not treated it can lead to AIDS. Once people get HIV affected, they have to live with it for life long. He further added that besides studying, students must aware of themselves as well as their society which is possible only by learning and taking part in such programs of the college. Surjeet Kumar of sem. 6th bagged 1st Position while Surjeet Sunthal of Sem. 4th got 2nd Position and 3rd position went to Varinder Singh of Sem-6th. All the three winners got cash prizes whereas the participants were given certificates of participation.
A vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Vijay Kumar. He congratulated the winners and appreciated the participants as well as Members of the Red-Ribbon Club of the college and J&K AIDS Control Society (JKACS), H&ME Department for organizing such programs for sensitization of adolescent minds.
