New Delhi — India on Thursday announced the four-day visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, describing it as taking place at a crucial stage in the normalization of bilateral ties.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Carney had earlier agreed to advance a constructive and balanced partnership rooted in mutual respect for each other’s concerns, strong people to people connections and expanding economic complementarities.
“The forthcoming meeting between the leaders will provide an opportunity to reaffirm the positive momentum and shared vision of India and Canada in building a forward looking partnership,” the MEA said in a statement.
Carney will arrive in Mumbai on Friday for his first official visit to India. He is scheduled to travel to New Delhi on March 2 for bilateral talks with Modi. During his stay in Mumbai, the Canadian leader will take part in business engagements and interact with Indian and Canadian CEOs, financial and industry experts, educators, and representatives of Canadian pension funds operating in India.
According to the MEA, the two leaders will review progress under the India–Canada Strategic Partnership, building on their previous meetings in Kananaskis in June 2025 and Johannesburg in November 2025.
