15-12-2021: Govt. Degree College Dudu Basantgarh in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) organized a poster-making and slogan writing competition on the theme “Catch the Rain” under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Students of the college participated in the program enthusiastically by making posters of rainwater harvesting. India has a serious water problem, The 2030 Water Resources Group estimated that if India consumes water as per the current speed, India will have only half the water it needs by 2030. To tackle this problem, rainwater harvesting is a better solution. Students of the college participated in the program whole heartily by making the posters and writing the slogans. Prof. Rahul Sharma encourages the students to be aware the local people about the benefits of harvesting rainwater. He addressed them that in their area, there is an acute shortage of irrigation as well as drinking water. So it is necessary to harvest the rain and utilize it in their daily routine.
Surjeet Kumar, student of Sem. 3rd bagged the first position while the second position was shared by Poonam Devi and Santosh Kumari of Sem. 3rd. the third position was secured by Palma Devi of Sem. 3rd and Surjeet Kumar of Sem. 5th. The judgment was made by Prof. Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Ravi Kumar, Prof. Anju Devi, and Prof. Aastha Gupta. The refreshment was also distributed among the participants by Mr. Naresh Lalhal (member of NYK)
The overall in-charge of the event was Prof. Rahul Sharma. He also congratulated the winners.
