Govt Prioritizes Recruitment Policy, Plans to Fill Lecturer and Professor Vacancies Soon: Minister Sakeena Itoo

Srinagar, Nov 13: Addressing a critical issue in the education sector, Minister for Health and Medical Education Sakeena Masood Itoo announced today that the government is actively working to implement a revised recruitment policy, with a priority on filling the long-standing vacancies for lecturers, professors, and teachers.

In a statement made during a function at SKICC, Minister Itoo acknowledged that recruitment processes had stalled in recent years, affecting educational and professional institutions. However, she confirmed that efforts to address this gap are already underway, aiming to restore stability and opportunity within the sector. “We understand that there has been a lag in recruitment over the past few years, but steps have been initiated to accelerate the hiring process,” she affirmed.

The minister also addressed growing concerns surrounding the prevalence of drug addiction and depression among youth, recognizing these issues as significant challenges for the administration. Itoo assured that the government is committed to implementing comprehensive measures to combat these social issues, aiming to protect the mental and physical well-being of young people across the region.

The government’s renewed focus on education and health sector issues is expected to strengthen institutional capacity, improve access to quality education, and support young people in overcoming societal challenges.
