Haryana Raises Creamy Layer Income Limit to Rs 8 Lakh and Increased Job Reservations for OBCs

Haryana, 24-06-2024 : Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced a significant increase in the annual income limit for the creamy layer of Other Backward Classes (OBC) from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. This decision, revealed during his address at the ‘OBC Morcha Sarv Samaj Samrasta Sammelan’ in Gurugram, aims to bolster employment opportunities for OBC youth in government jobs across the state.

In an official statement, it was highlighted that these measures are part of a broader strategy to ensure the welfare of the OBC community in Haryana. Chief Minister Saini emphasized that the revised income threshold would facilitate greater access to job opportunities within the state government for individuals belonging to the OBC category.

Additionally, Saini announced an increase in reservation for backward classes in Group-A and Group-B posts from the existing 15% to 27%, aligning with the policy set by the Central government. He also addressed the backlog of vacancies in these categories, committing to prioritize their filling through a dedicated recruitment drive.

During his address, Saini underscored the government’s commitment to supporting OBC education, citing scholarships ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 20,000 aimed at ensuring quality education for OBC children.
