Chandigarh, Sep 10: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced that the state will observe ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ from September 17 to October 2, with a series of public service programmes, welfare schemes, and cleanliness campaigns to be carried out across all districts.
The initiative is part of the BJP’s nationwide fortnight-long campaign to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday through community service and outreach programmes.
Highlighting the Prime Minister’s commitment to public welfare over the past 11 years, Saini said, “Inspired by his philosophy of service, Sewa Pakhwada will strengthen the spirit of community service among the people. We must all work together to ensure its success.”
During the fortnight, the Health Department will hold medical camps, while the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment will conduct programmes for the differently-abled. Various departments will also organise cleanliness drives, voluntary labour campaigns, tree plantation drives, and plastic-free initiatives. Blood donation camps will also be part of the schedule.
The Chief Minister directed all departments to ensure special programmes at both district and state levels, taking government welfare schemes to the grassroots. He stressed that every department should conduct at least one major event in each district during the two weeks.
Saini underlined that the purpose of Sewa Pakhwada is to prioritise public service and welfare in every activity, ensuring maximum public participation.
