India, May 03 : Several Indian states announced early school holidays and revised work schedules after severe heatwave conditions intensified across large parts of the country.

Temperatures crossed dangerous levels in regions of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. Hospitals also reported increased cases of dehydration, heat exhaustion, and sunstroke-related illnesses.

Health departments advised people to avoid outdoor exposure during afternoon hours, drink sufficient water, and monitor elderly family members closely.

Meteorological officials warned that rising climate-related temperature extremes may continue affecting India throughout the summer season.

Experts stressed the need for stronger urban cooling infrastructure, heat action plans, and public awareness campaigns to reduce health risks associated with extreme weather.
