JAMMU, Jan 23: Continuous heavy rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir have disrupted routine life and forced authorities to take precautionary measures. In Katra, the pilgrimage to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine has been suspended to ensure the safety of devotees.
Officials said that no yatris will be allowed to proceed from the base camp to the shrine until conditions improve. Pilgrims currently at Katra have been advised to remain in the town and follow updates from local authorities.
The suspension comes as part of wider weather related disruptions in the region, with authorities closely monitoring road connectivity and power supply to prevent any emergencies.
